The service industry is like living in a parallel world, you’re busy when everyone else is free on the weekends or night time, you’re working the hardest when everyone else is resting or playing on the holidays

You see your family after everyone else is back at work, there is is no Christmas for service workers, there are no weekends, it’s time formed in the shadow of ā€œrealā€ life, life lived in the invert

ā€œI’m stuck in a time loopā€ ā€œI entered a parallel dimensionā€ ā€œbody snatchers have changed everyone else’s behavior toward meā€ yes, understandable, we’ve all worked in retail

Misogyny as policy treats women as ā€˜less than’.

There is no law that controls a man’s body. Now do the same for women.

Equal protection is the law.

My brother in law recently became a veterinarian and it has really driven the point home as to how fucking bonkers veterinary medicine is. We don’t expect human physicians to really know much outside of their own specialty - a dentist, an otolaryngologist, and a maxillofacial surgeon are three totally different dudes. Meanwhile a veterinarian at a wildlife rehab center is doing orthopedic surgery on a hawk and then doing rounds on baby hedgehogs in the hedgehog NICU and administering antibiotics to a ratsnake. And he also knows how to perform surgical interventions on a cow! What the fuck! Those are all totally, wildly different kinds of animal!!

Shout out to veterinarians, they know Too Much.

I always think about that one post that was like “how come the surviving doctors in zombie apocalypse stories are always veterinarians” and the reply “because veterinarians make ‘not getting bitten by their patients’ a core skill”

there’s a really funny 3d printing controversy going on btw.

if you don’t know, there’s a very popular 3d printing model out there called ā€œbenchyā€. this is used for benchmarking your 3d printer because it’s a difficult print and will help test it out.

image

this is so widely used that people make their own little versions of it, remixing the 3d model to make benchy look cooler and stuff. however, a new company owns the benchy license. they are sending copyright takedowns to all those who wrongfully uploaded the benchy model.

of course, this is pissing off the 3d printing community greatly. everyone loved benchy and have used it for years. so someone on reddit decided to make a new model that is designed as a 3d printing stress test. one that works a lot like benchy, and people are freely able to edit it as they please. you know what they called it?
